With the ongoing uncertainty created by the spread of COVID-19, and in the light of the government’s current advice to avoid non-essential contact, the MLGC Trustees have agreed that from Monday 16th March all weekly rehearsals will be cancelled until further notice.
These rehearsal times will however, as near as possible, be replaced with online interactions; these being either live or recorded. As a membership organisation with a strong emphasis on support and social interaction, clearly, the global health crisis and the uncertainty it brings present enormous challenges. Mind you, the sense of pride, loyalty and community within the Manchester Lesbian and Gay Chorus is strong.
Throughout the unprecedented and unpredictable period ahead, the Management Team / Trustees will be working hard to support members who become sick and/or are self-isolating. In this way, although members will not be able to meet face to face collectively, they will continue to be part of a supportive community striving to make music through singing.
The MLGC is looking forward to entertaining all its supporters and friends, with perhaps a celebratory event when the government advises that social gatherings are once again permitted. In the meantime, preparations are going ahead for the Chorus’ 20th Anniversary Concert, now postponed from the original date in October, to be at the Stoller Hall, Manchester – so make sure to make a note of the date: Saturday 17th April, 2021.
In the meantime, on behalf of all of the Chorus members, the board of Trustees thanks its supporters and asks that you look after yourselves and each other.
